Gave me some interesting insight into some of how my dyslexia works, haha. Kind of wild to watch that play out. Really neat! Worked really cleanly, especially considering the jam limitation.

oh? I’m interested to hear more, if you’d like to share. thanks for playing!

Yeah! It was crazy how I just could not do the math quickly enough, it just took ages like trying to focus through a nasty lens. And then when I started memorizing color combos it was like the board just LIT UP with combos! I had this moment of "oh wow is this just how people perceive numbers? They just? mean what they mean at face value and people just Understand them at a glance?".

Like, just the way it was so much easier when I just thought about color combos really opened my eyes to how much I truly struggle with numbers. Thinking about finding a way to color code whatever math I have to do in the future and seeing if it helps a little!

oh, fascinating! personally, I find the colors helpful, but it’s not nearly as drastic as you describe. thank you for sharing! what an unexpected positive impact my little game has had

Nice but I think I would like it more if you had a fixed amount of moves instead of a time limit.

That would be a very interesting variant.

ok that was adictive

Yooooo

(+4)

for 500 characters this game is actually insane, size doesnt matter !

(-5)

it does if we're talking about smth else ifykyk

Afraid I cannot read PICO code, but I was wondering, is there anything being done to balance the fact that lower value numbers will be more combinable than high value ones? i.e. higher score or lower spawn rate, as I wasn’t able to tell.

(+1)

Nope! it’s pure randomness, white noise. I’ve been working on an expansion with a bunch of variant game modes, and I’ve been playing with the distribution in some of them – there’s one where every number spawns the same exact number of times as every other number 😌

Great and very fun game!

not too much

Current PB!:

Super fun game, especially for the fact it was made with minimizing characters.

New PB!: 299

381 now!

I got a high score of 70!

how u get 1.1978571669969891796072783721689e+100?

I've seen mobile ads for this type of game so when I saw this game promoted on the front page of itch.io, I gave it a go! It took me a while to differentiate the numbers and to realize that 7 was not a 1! Overall, I liked it, and I can see how this kind of game can become addictive. I wish the board was bigger, the numbers not as close to one another, and the game to not be timed. Just not for me, but fun for many people! Also, is it colorblind friendly?
(+1)

I like how it lets me play after the timer ends, without scores obviously but i love finding patterns.

😊👍

original and simple.

what a cool simple game ! I 've got too many 9 8 7 and less 1 2 3 unfinishable  but fun !

This game is so amazing and simple. And colours and fonts are very nicely fitting into the whole experience.

Really Fun

Also damn, I thought my score of 146 was good, but these comments are proving me otherwise.

Hi! We played your game on stream and really enjoyed it!

good game and it reminds old school game called greed.

(+4)

Fun game

(+2)

Incredibly fun, I played it over 20 times and got up to 203 points!
I can't believe this can be done with 500 lines of code!
And I'm a bad cat who resets if there are too many 9s in the initial placement, nya~.

This is super cool, great job!

(+3)

Significantly better scores are possible, based on RNG and optimal play

(+1)

there's a hidden endless mode  😄

(1 edit) (+3)

it definitely took a while but my high score is 212!!!

update: 319. i'm INSANE

(+1)

Very cool concept! I was only able to get 33, and only one of those was a square, which was what I was really trying to hunt down.

(+1)

Very cool game. I loved finding more and more patterns and rules as I played and interesting behaviors, like clearing 9+1s in the beginning cause 9s are useless and will get in a way otherwise, but you also sacrifice useful 1s and sometimes it's better not too. And later just seeing combinations and not having to count, just knowing momentarily that 4+4+2 is 10, etc

I noticed a bug: if score counts equals to the size of an area you have selected, not the size of an area that would contain all the numbers. Like, if you have selection with empty space around numbers, you would receive score equal to the size of that empty space if you selected it.

(+1)

This seems like a bug because it doesn't work like the way the rules state, but I think it works better then intended this way.  With the blank spaces being used there's more strategy and reward for clearing certain areas.  Please do not patch this!

Actually I agree after a while of playing

(+3)

Very addicting! It took me a while to break 300.

Wtf,wow. Congrats!

This is fascinating!  I wasn't familiar with "Fruit Box" and this a wonderful rendition.  I think I actually prefer your simplification and use of color, although the music on "Fruit Box" is great.

(+2)

This is f'n addictive, after achieving my score I could literally see numbers everywhere. Great game, best so far for me.

(+3)

youve carved out the shape of a bird!

Oh god, you're right :D cute! 🐦

Very nice simple idea! Sometimes I'll see some numbers grouped together and think "I feel like there's something here that works" and just drag some boxes quick to see if I can get one by feel.

When I saw TweetTweetJam going around I thought of you and wondered if you were making something! Absolutely wacky how compact you manage to make these, I need to get more comfortable with P8 so you can teach me.

(+1)

This is very good. It’s really impressive how much game you squeezed into 500 characters.
